CRYSTAL LAKE – Shaw Media has won several awards through the Local Media Association’s Digital Innovation Contest.
Newspapers, digital news sites and broadcast stations from 70 different companies competed for awards. The faculty at the Medill School/Northwestern University judged entries. Several first-place winners will conduct presentations at a digital summit in Chicago in May.
Shaw Media won Best Local Website, for its Northwest Herald page. Shaw Media also tied in second place for a metrics strategy and success award. The Herald-News won third in the Best Native/Sponsored Content campaign division. The company also took second place in the Best New Digital Initiative division.
“This is a highly competitive contest that recognizes the best in local media when it comes to digital innovation,” said Nancy Lane, president of the Local Media Association, “There is no other contest like it. The bragging rights are huge for the winners.”
For the best local website, judges had this to say about nwherald.com:
"This local news site has a user-friendly, clean, mobile-friendly website design with non-obstructive advertising," judges wrote. "Its content goes beyond simply articles and organizes community happenings well. Audience growth reflects this design."
